Geospatial Technical Product Specialist

Position Overview:

This is an entry-level to mid-level a “multi-role” position involving a dynamic mix of technical customer support, software testing, video recorder assembly and product documentation for our industry-leading LineVision geospatial video software suite and geoDVR GPS video/audio recording systems.

The ideal candidate will have an enthusiastic curiosity for all things computers and new technologies, with a particular interest in understanding video and mapping systems. Most of all you must possess a desire to learn and grow with Remote GeoSystems. Our fast-moving small company culture fosters intellectual curiosity and individual responsibility in a highly-collaborative and rewarding team environment.

Ideally, the selected candidate for this position will become a valued internal/external domain expert in Remote GeoSystems-developed software and hardware solutions as well as complementary 3rd-party software, hardware, cameras, and other sensors with which we integrate. Additionally, this position is an opportunity to advance within the company and to take on additional technical and/or product responsibilities and roles as appropriate in the future.

Position Requirements:

  • Candidates will ideally have an undergraduate degree or an associates degree (with job experience) in a technical discipline with strong emphasis in computers, software, GIS, engineering, mathematical or other technical subject matter. We will also consider applicants who have successfully completed a reputable and relevant technology “boot camp” program and those with significant on-the-job technical QA or IT/software support-related experience in lieu of a technical education.
  • Previous experience in a technical support position or other computer/technology-related job experience.
  • Experience and/or some coursework in software development and/or professional video/photo equipment usage and editing software.
  • Solid administrative-level experience with Windows operating systems.
  • Experience or strong interest in building custom Windows / Linux computers.
  • Experience working with ESRI ArcGIS or other GIS/GPS mapping software a plus but not required.
  • Experience working with WordPress web content management systems and plug-ins a plus but not required.
  • Experience working with “all-in-one” CRM/email/marketing automation systems such as HubSpot, Salesforce, Ontraport, etc. a plus but not required.
  • Good writing and “information organization” skills with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for tradeshows, customer training and support efforts.  (Usually less than 5 times a year, though could increase as your experience and our customer base grows.)
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the US – Sorry we cannot sponsor visas at this time.

Position Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot technical product issues from external customers as well as internal team members.
  • Quality Assurance testing for software and recorder hardware.
  • Report, track and help determine priorities for bugs and feature enhancements.
  • Keep software/hardware documentation updated using appropriate online/offline documentation tools and procedures.
  • Work with product/project managers and software engineers to develop and document procedures for testing Remote GeoSystems geospatial software/hardware products.
  • Assemble and test geoDVR video recorder hardware.
  • Participate in product and special-interest user forums offering support and suggestions around using Remote GeoSystems products for existing users and prospective customers.
  • Support technical sales efforts such as researching and suggesting integrated and custom solutions for various client project requirements.
  • Assist with technical marketing efforts such as maintaining electronic assets and communications such as websites, CRM/marketing automation tools, blogs and social media updates.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary range between $41,000 to $61,000/year depending on work experience and education.
  • Option to participate in group health insurance.
  • Option to participate in matching 401K (up to 4%)
