LineVision Software Version:
Q: What kind of video files does the geoDVR record?
A: The geoDVR records .AVI files (h.264 codec) with permanently embedded GPS data. We can also have the geoDVR record .MPEG4 files.
Q: What kind of Solid State Drives SSD does the geoDVR use?
A: The geoDVR SSDs have a special faceplate and actually have to be specially formated by Remote GeoSystems for the geoDVR. If you need extra drives let us know and we can include in your quote.
Q: What are the power requirements for the geoDVR (Gen2)?
A: The voltage input for the geoDVR is variable and can be between 9V-32V DC. The average power consumption should be around 25 Watts. The max/peak power consumption is approximately 65 Watts (though 65 watts is probably way higher than the geoDVR will ever require).
The geoDVR is usually shipped setup to start on ignition (basically, when the IGN input gets voltage (between 9-32V) for more than a couple of seconds, the geoDVR powers on). The common way most customers wire this is to put a on/off switch between the positive terminal and IGN terminal. This way, once the switch is turned on, the geoDVR will start.
IMPORTANT: If using the wall power adapter for testing do not use 220V (European, other standard for AC) directly - it will fry the unit. What you'll need is a 110V converter. Once converted down to 110V AC, the power supplies we provided will then convert the voltages to do 12V DC which is the voltage the geoDVR requires.
Q: What kind of monitors can I use with the geoDVR?
A: The geoDVR has both a VGA and DVI output so you can run almost any monitor. Additionally the geoDVR offers the only multiplexed live streaming interface so user can see all the video feeds being logged in real-time in a single monitor interface. This typically reduces the number of extra monitors needed for multi-camera sensor systems. Remote GeoSystems also sells 10.5" touchscreen monitors that we can include in your quote.
Q: I want to use a 12 volt consumer monitor in an aircraft with 24 volt system. What do I need?
A: You will need a 24 volt to 12 volt step down converter. These can be found on Amazon and at many electronics parts suppliers.
LineVision Esri Maps
Q: Do I need to already have ArcMap or other Esri software to use LineVision Esri ArcGIS?
A: No - LineVision Esri Maps is a stand-alone desktop application that leverages Esri technology and map data so that anyone without any GIS experience can create enterprise-ready immersive map-based geospatial video and photo geoProject reports.
LineVision Esri ArcMap Add-In
Q: Can I play a MISB compatible video file in ArcMap using your LineVision Esri ArcMap Add-In?
A: Not today - The Remote GeoSystems LineVision Esri ArcMap Add-in is designed to let you analyze and manage georeferenced video with "companion" GPS data files in ArcMap. This differs from our partner Esri’s FMV Add-in, which supports the MISB FMV standard.
LineVision Google Earth
Q: I heard Google is going retire the Google Earth Plug-in APIs. Since LineVision Google Earth uses this technology do you have plans for an alternative or replacement?
A: As chance would have it on Friday the 13th, 2017 Google finally decided to retire the APIs we use to write our stand-alone LineVision Google Earth. (This was originally supposed to happen in December of 2015.) We have been and are continuing to work on our LineVision Google Earth replacement which be a more functional solution in the end. We expect an initial release to existing customers middle of Q1 2017 and full release by the end of Q1 2017. In the meantime we can offer the LineVision Esri ArcGIS or LineVision Esri ArcMap Add-In options.
Q: What kind of files do I need to use LineVision PLS-CADD extension?
A: You will need to have a PLS-CADD file plus a corresponding geotagged video file for that line segment. You may also want to have geotagged high resolution oblique photos for that line segment.
Q: How do I access the LineVision extension in PLS-CADD.
A: Once you have installed our LineVision PLS-CADD extension first launch PLS-CADD. Next select Drafting > Attachments > LiDAR Video Setup > Remote GeoSystems LineVision PLS-CADD. LineVision PLS-CADD will not automatically appear. To view and work in LineVision simply “middle” click your mouse on a point in PLS-CADD and select Show LIDAR Video or press the L hot key.
LineVision Empire Cloud & Server
Q: Do your LineVision Empire Cloud & Server applications work with Esri's ArcGIS Server (ArcGIS Enterprise)?
A: You can stream imagery and vector data as background maps in LineVision Empire from ArcGIS Server using Esri REST; SOAP and Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc.® (OGC®) standards. You can setup data layers from ArcGIS Server using the LineVision Empire “Layer Browser” panel.
